Surrey RCMP Investigate Pit Bull Attack On Woman

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 22 Jun, 2016 12:29 PM
Surrey RCMP is investigating a dog attack on an adult female that occurred in the Whalley/City Centre area of the city.

On June 20th at approximately 10:20am, Surrey RCMP received a report from emergency health services of a female who had received serious injuries from an apparent dog attack in the 9100 block of 120th Street.

Upon attendance, a 65 year old female was being transported to local hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries to her forearm. Information obtained at the scene indicated that the woman was walking in the area next to a convenience store when she was attacked, unprovoked, by an unleashed grey and white pit bull dog.

Surrey RCMP General Duty officers are canvassing the area and speaking to potential witnesses.

Officers are working with the City of Surrey’s Animal Control office to locate the dog and owner. Officers are also investigating whether the dog’s owner was in the area at the time and fled after the attack. He is described as a Caucasian male, late 30’s to early 40’s, with a heavier build, wearing a black tank top, grey shorts, and a grey hat.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca.
