Surrey RCMP investigating a shooting in Newton area

Surrey RCMP is investigating confirmed shots fired in the Newton area.

On March 24, 2022, at about 7:17 PM Surrey RMCP responded to a report of shots fired in the 12600 block of 72^nd street. Police attended and located evidence consistent with a shooting.

A male victim with non-life threatening injuries was located. The male was transported to local hospital.

Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit has taken conduct of the investigation. The investigation is in the early states, but all indications are that it was targeted.

There have been 135 cases of the Omicron variant of concern identified in B.C. Fraser Health says in a statement 23 COVID-19 cases were identified among staff and students at Khalsa School Old Yale Road.
