Surrey RCMP Seizes Drugs, Cash, Weapons, Luxury Cars In Gangland Crackdown

Darpan News Desk, 08 May, 2019 04:22 PM

Two separate criminal investigations and a proactive vehicle stop by multiple units within the Surrey RCMP has led to a substantial seizure of drugs, cash, weapons, and high-end vehicles in two days.

On Thursday, May 2nd the Surrey RCMP’s Drug Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the 15800 block of 94th Avenue. As a result of the search, a loaded Glock 19 pistol, body armour, suspected cocaine, approximately $5,000 in cash, and other evidence associated to drug trafficking was seized.

Officers also seized two high end vehicles, a Porsche Panamera and a Range Rover, as proceeds of crime and offence related property. The seized gun will be examined to determine any linkages to other crimes or occurrences. This drug investigation is ongoing as there is belief the occupants of the residence have associations to organized crime.

On Friday, May 3rd the Surrey RCMP’s Community Response Unit (CRU) executed a search warrant on a residence in the 15100 block of Fraser Highway.

The warrant resulted in the seizure of suspected methamphetamine, varying amounts of suspected cannabis and shatter, various drug packaging paraphernalia, and multiple weapons including brass knuckles, bear spray, and nunchucks.

One male was taken into custody and later released on a Promise to Appear as the investigation continues. Officers are liaising with Surrey Bylaws and are actively engaged with the property owner as the residence is alleged to be a hub for criminal activity in the community.

On Friday, May 3rd at approximately 8:20pm, a Surrey RCMP Drug Unit officer conducted a pro-active stop on a vehicle suspected of drug trafficking in the 6300 block of Hwy 91 in Delta after following the vehicle from Surrey.

The driver was arrested and a search incidental to his arrest, which yielded pre-packaged bundles of suspected fentanyl / carfentanyl. The vehicle, two mobile phones and $1,000 cash was also seized as offence related property. The driver was later released pending further investigation.

Surrey RCMP continues to conduct overt and covert enforcement activities throughout the city in an effort to combat drug trafficking and its associated violence.

In addition to conducting more visible enforcement activity, Surrey detachment has a number of dedicated investigative units involved in ongoing investigations on individuals and locations associated to the drug trade. These units regularly collaborate and all have the same goal of reducing criminal activity and addressing violent crime and responding to community concerns.

Anyone with information about any suspicious or criminal activity is asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502, or contact Crime Stoppers if you wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca.
