CORRECTION TO STORY BELOW: The Surrey RCMP's revised media release says the woman was stabbed and not shot. Althought the victim was not shot, there is evidence that shooting did occur at the location.

The victim remains in hospital in stable condition. Surrey RCMP General Investigations Unit has assumed conduct of the investigation and the crime scene has been secured for a search warrant. Investigators still believe that this is an isolated incident, with no active threat to public safety.

EARLIER STORY: 

Surrey RCMP investigate after a woman was shot inside a Whalley residence this morning.

On Thursday morning ,January 6, 2022, just before 9:00 a.m. Surrey RCMP responded to the report of gun shots heard inside a residence. Police attended the 10400-block of 140B Street and located a vehicle leaving the area with a female victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  The victim was transport to hospital with serious injuries.

Police located the residence where the shooting is believed to have occurred and multiple persons have been detained. The investigation is very early stages however, this appears to be an isolated incident, with no active threat to public safety.
