Darpan News Desk, 01 Feb, 2019 12:29 AM

Anhad Virk, who was wanted in connection with a December 2018 stabbing in Surrey, BC has been arrested in Edmonton.

Virk remained at large after the incident but the B.C. Prosecution Service approved several charges, including attempted murder, against him and a Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest.

The stabbing happened outside of a business in the 13400-block of 72nd Avenue, shortly after 5 p.m. on Dec. 13, 2018.

21-yr-old remains in custody, while arrangements are made for his return to Surrey where he’ll be brought before the court.

“We would like to thank the public and the Edmonton Police Service for their assistance in locating and arresting the suspect in this occurrence,” said Staff Sgt. Kirk Duncan of the General Investigation Unit.

“In particular, we would like to thank an alert member of the community who saw our media release and immediately notified police to the suspect’s whereabouts.”
