  • Surrey’s free outdoor concert series returns with more interactive performances

Surrey’s popular Sounds of Summer outdoor live concert series returns this July, bringing eight free live performances to parks and public spaces across the city.

This year’s lineup features a diverse mix of music from rock and jazz to country and Punjabi fusion and more interactive experiences giving audiences a chance to get up on their feet with guided dance instruction from the performers. Attendees can learn line dancing on July 29, Punjabi folk dancing on Aug. 19 and salsa dancing on Aug. 26.

“This free concert series brings people of all ages together in Surrey’s beautiful outdoors,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “By hosting performances in nearly every town centre and in both well-known and hidden-gem parks, we’re creating opportunities for people to connect through live, local music. These kinds of free and affordable events are an important part of making sure everyone can enjoy summer in our city.”

Concerts will run on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.:

  • Wednesday, July 8 – Woodland Jazz Orchestra at The Glades Woodland Garden
  • Wednesday, July 15 – Music City Showcase at Bear Creek Garden
  • Wednesday, July 22 – Mikey Jose & Groffie at Sullivan Heights Park
  • Wednesday, July 29 – Line Dancing with The Boot Scooters at Surrey Civic Plaza
  • Wednesday, Aug. 5 – Ben Dunnill at Darts Hill Garden Park

  • Wednesday, Aug. 19 – Royal Academy of Punjab – Dance Troupe & Workshop at T.E. Scott Park
