Team Canada represented by Firemaster Productions Inc. has won the 2019 Honda Celebration of Light, after the world’s longest running offshore fireworks competition came to a spectacular close on Saturday evening.

Returning once again to the Honda Celebration of Light, team Canada took to the skies on the second night of the festival, and faced off against team India represented by Amir Morani Fireworks, and team Croatia represented by Mirnovec Fireworks.

While all 3 teams had high scores this year, Team Canada delivered a “stand-out” synchronized show that ended with a fantastic finale and swayed the judges to Canada’s victory.

“Team Canada really used the barge and supplied equipment to their full potential, they pushed limits by mounting their products in new and exciting ways to fill the scenes from varied angles and even spelled out “HELLO” in sparks.”, says Kelly Guille, President of Archangel Fireworks Inc.

“They had a fun energy, and their tracks were uplifting. The competition was tough this year, it’s hard to believe that it was Team India’s first competition performance anywhere in the world, and team Croatia pulled big nostalgia and emotion from the crowd using popular movie soundtracks to back their massive spectacle.”

The People’s Choice Winner, as voted by the public through the official Honda Celebration of Light Festival app, is team Croatia. This first time participant had the festival crowds singing in unison and enthralled in their performance. Team Croatia truly closed out this year’s Honda Celebration of Light in style.

In excess of 1 million festival-goers packed the beaches of English Bay, Second Beach and Vanier Park over the three nights of the family-friendly festival, which concluded its 29th year on Saturday as a can’t miss event of the summer for Lower Mainland residents and visitors.

Michael McKnight, and Yuri Fulmer, Co-Chairs of the Vancouver Fireworks Festival Society added:

“Congratulations to Team Canada on an incredible winning performance at the 2019 Honda Celebration of Light. We are proud to once again be able to offer Vancouver a festival that is truly a fun, safe, and memorable occasions for families to enjoy and celebrate our beautiful city. To the hundreds of thousands of people that continue to come out each and every year and support this wonderful event, we thank you.

We also want to thank everyone who helps to make this event happen from the partners to the sponsors, staff, volunteers and festival-goers. We’re already looking forward to our 30th anniversary next year, which will be a summer to remember!”

Thousands also enjoyed the line-up of musical talent at The Park Stage at Second Beach, Z Fest, and the Pete McLeod Air Show.

Dates for the 2020 Honda Celebration of Light will be announced in the fall.
