Teamwork between the VPD and a security guard in Olympic Village resulted in the arrest of a property crime offender early this morning.

 

Police were called to the area of Manitoba Street and Athletes Way just before 2:30 a.m. on October 25th, after a security guard witnessed a man allegedly break into a parked car.

 

The security officer kept an eye on the suspect until police arrived. The man was arrested and the stolen property was recovered.

 

“The VPD is committed to reducing property crime in our city,” says VPD’s Constable Jason Doucette. “Working with people in the community, who can be extra sets of eyes and ears, is one of the best ways to do that. We really encourage anyone to call 9-1-1 to report suspicious behaviour.”

 

Charges related to the theft-from-auto have been recommended against a 24-year-old Vancouver man. He remains in police custody and is expected to appear in court later today.
