An 18 year-old from Chilliwack has been arrested for allegedly going double the speed limit on his motorcycle on a highway near Merritt.
A B-C Highway Patrol officer says the teen was travelling at a speed of up to 209 kilometres per hour in a 100 kilometres per hour zone last week.
The motorcycle driver tried to evade police by doing a U-turn, but wiped out and was taken into custody by an R-C-M-P officer.
The driver is facing multiple charges and is set to appear in court next month.
The cause of the collision is not yet known. The other driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Our thoughts and condolences are extended to the family and friends of the victim of this collision.
The victim's condition has since stabilized, and police say it appears he was attacked by multiple male suspects who arrived in a taxi and confronted the victim before the attack took place.
