  • Teen driver arrested for going double the speed limit

An 18 year-old from Chilliwack has been arrested for allegedly going double the speed limit on his motorcycle on a highway near Merritt. 

A B-C Highway Patrol officer says the teen was travelling at a speed of up to 209 kilometres per hour in a 100 kilometres per hour zone last week.

The motorcycle driver tried to evade police by doing a U-turn, but wiped out and was taken into custody by an R-C-M-P officer. 

The driver is facing multiple charges and is set to appear in court next month.
