Temporary Foreign Worker Program Abusers to Face Penalties

Darpan News Desk, Darpan, 28 Mar, 2014 12:00 PM

The federal government will reportedly bring in a legislation that will impose penalties on firms that abuse the temporary foreign worker program.

Employers issuing false declarations about their use of foreign workers or those who use foreign workers to replace Canadians will be penalized accordingly.

News reports suggest that the measures will be in effect early 2015 and will be stated in the budget implementation bill that will be tabled in Parliament today.

However, for now it will be hard to determine the nature or extent of the penalties
