Thief Breaks Into Woman's Car And Steals Dead Sister's Belongings: RCMP

The Canadian Press, 17 Dec, 2014 03:01 PM
NANAIMO, B.C. — Mounties say a Vancouver Island woman is reeling after someone smashed her car window and stole her dead sister's belongings.

RCMP in Nanaimo say Michelle Pearson's sister died suddenly on Nov. 28 after complications from surgery and that a suitcase full of items including photos of the two sisters was taken.

Police say the suitcase that also contained death and cremation certificates, a cell phone and a sapphire necklace.

RCMP say the dead sister's favourite teddy bears were also inside the suitcase, but they were found in some nearby bushes.

Const. Gary O'Brien says Pearson was scheduled to return home to Campbell River, but has decided to stay in Nanaimo in hopes of finding some of her sister's things.

Police are calling on the thief to do the right thing and turn in the items or let them know where they can be found.
