Thousands of students expected to walk out of school over strike frustrations

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 04 Jun, 2014 10:48 AM

Following a week and a half of rotating strikes being executed across the province thousands of students are expected to participate in a day-long walkout today. The walkout will be held in protest of the ongoing labor dispute between the BCTF and the province.

The news was announced on the Facebook page BC Student Walkout for Students and is organized by Victoria Barker and Mackenzie Timko. This walkout commenced at 9 a.m.

Students told media that they are tired of being caught in the dispute between the BCTF and the province.

A number of school districts have sent letters home urging parents to discuss the matter with the youngsters.

Nevertheless, more than 10,000 students across BC have indicated that they will be participating in the walkout being held today.
