  • Toronto police charge 35 year old Munish Puri with sexual assault

The Toronto Police Service would like to advise the public of an arrest made in a sexual assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Saturday, May 1, 2021, a woman was on a TTC streetcar on Queen Street East

- a man approached the woman and attempted to speak with her

- the man was not known to the woman

- the woman got off the streetcar in the Queen Street East and Jones Avenue area

- the man followed the woman for a length of time

- the man caught up to the woman and grabbed her arm

- the man sexually assaulted the woman

- the woman was able to get away and ran into a nearby business where police were contacted

On Sunday, May 2, 2021, police located and arrested the man.

Munish Puri, 35, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1. Harassment by repeatedly following another person

2. Sexual Assault

He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at 10 a.m. in room 111.
