‘Ultimate’ Birthday Surprise for $500,000 Surrey Winner

Darpan News Desk, 08 Jan, 2020 09:21 PM

He Lin Wu received the ultimate birthday surprise when he won $500,000 after matching all four Extra numbers in the December 4th, 2019 Lotto 6/49 draw.

“I saw that someone had won on their birthday before, so I thought I should also buy a ticket on my birthday,” said Wu.

After scanning the winning ticket, which he had purchased at the Lottery Centre at Central City Shopping Centre in Surrey, Wu immediately called his wife. “She was really busy at work and was talking to me on speaker phone,” explained Wu.

“When I told her I had won, her entire office heard. Everyone was so happy for us and told her to go home immediately to help me double check.”

On how it feels to win, Wu said, “I feel incredibly lucky, it will change my life.” He added, “There’s a lot of places I want to see in Canada — my younger daughter is in Toronto and now I can go visit her.”
