Undercover Cop Pressed For Drug-Deal Meeting With Rob Ford's Friend, Court Hears

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 26 Mar, 2015 11:37 AM

TORONTO — A Toronto court is hearing how a former undercover cop repeatedly pressed a west-end dry cleaner to put him in contact with a friend of ex-mayor Rob Ford.

In intercepts of conversations, Det. Ross Fernandes makes it clear to Jamshid Bahrami he wants to buy marijuana from Alexander (Sandro) Lisi, who was also Ford's sometime driver and body guard.

But Lisi, caught up in the "crack video" scandal that engulfed Ford in 2013, was keeping a low profile.

Bahrami frequently protests that he can't reach Lisi as the officer pushes for him to arrange a meeting.

Police charged Lisi and Bahrami in October 2013 as they investigated the video showing Ford apparently smoking crack cocaine.

They face charges of trafficking in marijuana and possessing the proceeds of crime, while Bahrami also faces a cocaine possession charge.
