Vancouver Police Called After Suspected Dynamite Found In Dead Person's Storage Locker

Darpan News Desk, 05 Apr, 2019 08:40 PM
  • Vancouver Police Called After Suspected Dynamite Found In Dead Person's Storage Locker

At around 2 p.m. today, the VPD were called to an apartment building on East 37th Avenue near Victoria Drive when someone cleaning out a deceased family member’s storage locker located a box of old ammunitions and explosives.

Due to the age and condition of the suspected dynamite, the VPD’s Explosive Disposal Unit has been called in to resolve situation.

The items will be transported to a nearby park and safely disposed of by our experts. In order to create a safe environment to transport and neutralize the explosives, officers will be limiting vehicle and pedestrian traffic in the area for the next few hours.

We anticipate Victoria Drive from East 36th Avenue to East 41st Avenue will be temporally closed starting at around 10 p.m. for at least two hours.

Our officers have been sharing information with neighbours, including that they are not at risk.
