  • Vancouver Police identifies city's 15th homicide victim

Vancouver Police have identified the victim in the city’s 15th homicide as 57-year-old Vancouver resident Douglas Wanke.

The VPD’s Major Crime Section is continuing to investigate Mr. Wanke’s murder. His remains were found in a large recycling bin in the water off of Kits Point on October 18.

The Canadian Coast Guard recovered the bin after multiple calls from people on the water on October 18 at around 11 a.m. Vancouver Police and the BC Coroner’s Service attended and determined that the remains in the bin were human.

Investigators want to speak with anyone who may have information about Mr. Wanke’s death. Anyone with information is asked to call homicide detectives at 604-717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
