Vancouver Police Investigate City’s Second Pedestrian Fatality Of The Year

Darpan News Desk, 06 Feb, 2019 08:29 PM

Vancouver Police are investigating a collision this morning in East Vancouver that has claimed the life of a pedestrian.

At around 10:15 a.m., a woman in her 70s was crossing East Hastings Street at Commercial Drive when she was struck by a red pick-up truck. It appears the truck was traveling south on Commercial and collided with the pedestrian as the driver turned east onto Hastings.

The driver of the truck, a 50-year-old man from Vancouver, remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.

The VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit is collecting evidence at the intersection. Anyone with dash-cam footage who was driving in the area at the time of the collision, or anyone who may have witnessed the collision, is asked to call investigators at 604-717-3012.

This is the second pedestrian fatality in Vancouver in 2019.
