  • Vancouver police investigate death of pedestrian who was struck by car

Police in Vancouver say they are investigating the death of an 81-year-old pedestrian who was struck in south Vancouver.

They say the man was crossing South East Marine Drive near Borden Street just after 4:30 a.m., when he was struck by the driver of a grey Audi Q3, who was travelling west.

The department says in a news release that first responders attempted to save the man's life but he died at the scene.

It says the driver remained at the scene.

Police say speed or impairment are not considered to be contributing factors in the crash.

They are encouraging anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash camera footage to reach out to the department.
