Vancouver – Vancouver Police arrested two people yesterday evening after they blocked eastbound traffic on a major roadway for several hours.

A group of 30-40 environmental protesters gathered outside an MLA office near Broadway Avenue and Ash Street.

“The protest was impeding eastbound vehicle traffic along Broadway Avenue,” says Constable Tania Visintin, VPD. “The protesters were given several warnings to move off the road. The majority of the protesters moved towards the sidewalk, however two people refused.”

A man and a woman were arrested for mischief and intimidation by blocking or obstructing a highway.

Both were released pending a future court date.
