Wake up and wake up! Rally in Surrey

Darpan News Desk, 12 Jun, 2018 03:01 PM
Jaskaran Singh Bhangal (17) and Jaskiran Singh Zatti (16) were killed in a targeted shooting on June 4 in Surrey.

Cpl. Frank Jang of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says the victims were not known to police. "They are 16- and 17-year-old children that were once here in the community and they are now dead. So we want to find the people that are responsible for this and hold them to account for what they've done."

Their bodies were found on 40th Avenue between 184th and 192nd streets Monday night, triggering a heavy police response in the area.

The Charhdi Kala Punjabi Newspaper is organizing a rally on June 13 to increase awareness on the importance of communication between families and for the people responsible to take accountability.

Jago and Jagao (Wake up and wake up)! Rally
    Wednesday 13 June / 2018 pm 6:00 pm
13450-104 Avenue Suri (the backyard of Surrey City Hall)

Surrey's parents, the time has come to speak up and ask our elected politicians for an answer. In these past years, what has been done at the grassroots level to eradicate gang violence in Surrey? This rally invites local MLAs, Councilor and Mayor to join the rally.

Those parents who feel their sons / daughters are facing this violence or drug offer and who feel that this can affect their children, must join this rally. Bring your children and friends to this rally.

This invitation is for all public. There is no special invitation to religious societies, sports clubs, churches, writers, literary, social workers, media, including political, social and religious leaders. Understand your responsibility and understand yourself.

It's not a party but a common gathering. This Jago and Jagao rally is not against any old and exiting politician or in favour of a new one. It is not for anyone to shine. It is only about creating awareness and taking accountability from the politicians and ask them to do something immediately. There are no administrators for this rally; we are our own administrators, people who are worried about Surrey.

Come on! Take care of your future.
