We Wish Everyone Celebrating Holi And Hola Mohalla A Happy And Colourful Festival

09 Mar, 2020 08:21 PM

Premier John Horgan released the following statement about the Festival of Holi:

“As colourful signs of spring blossom all over our province, this week many British Columbians will be celebrating Holi, the Hindu Festival of Colour. The Sikh community also celebrates this time of year with Hola Mohalla.

“Holi commemorates the triumph of good over evil. People around the world will celebrate this festival and the arrival of spring by lighting Holika bonfires, throwing parties and painting each other with brightly coloured powder and coloured water.

“This is a joyful time to laugh, dance, gather together with family and friends, and also make new friends.

“We wish everyone celebrating Holi and Hola Mohalla a happy and colourful festival.

“Holi Ki Badhai! Hola Mohalla Mubarak!”

Leader of the Official Opposition, Andrew Wilkinson, also released the following statement today for Holi:

“Today, Hindus all across the world will gather together with friends and family to celebrate the cultural and religious festival of Holi.

“Holi, the Festival of Colours, marks the beginning of spring for Hindus with singing, dancing, and bold colours.

“Here in British Columbia, many non-Hindus join in on the festivities and take advantage of the opportunity to celebrate the diversity that is a core strength of our province.

“On behalf of the entire BC Liberal Caucus, I would like to wish all those celebrating Holi a successful, happy, and colourful festival!

    “Holi Hai!”
