Surrey RCMP were on scene in the District 2 area of Guildford in Surrey for a report of shots being fired.
At approximately midnight on Sunday, Surrey RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the 16200 block of 80th Avenue.
A male suffering from injuries was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The investigation is still in its early stages, but initial indications are that this is a targeted/isolated incident and involves parties known to each other.
The Independent Investigations Office says in a statement that it filed a report with the BC Prosecution Service for consideration of charges. The office says the shooting happened Jan. 12 last year when police responded to a report of a man involved in a domestic incident in Chilliwack.

On Thursday, June 9, at 8:58 p.m., Surrey RCMP received a report of a stabbing in the 10200-block 168 Street. Upon arrival to the scene, police located a 22-year-old man with non-life threatening injuries who was transported to hospital, treated and later released.

Most of the cases are currently among men who said they had had sexual contact with other men, though the virus can spread to anyone who has had close physical contact with an infected person or "contaminated objects" such as blankets, she said.
