  • What? Edmonton worst city in Canada for Women

Quebec City has been ranked as the best city in Canada to be a woman, and Edmonton has been ranked as the worst, as per a new study from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives.

The cities have been allotted their ranks based on how men and women sustain in five areas- economic security, leadership, health, personal security and education.

Further the study revealed that women earn the most in Ottawa, whereas, Calgary is where they have the lowest levels of poverty in Canada.

"We should be coordinating our efforts so that we're raising level of women's well-being across the country, not just in one city at a time," Kate McInturff, senior researcher at CCPA told media.

She also highlighted that wage gaps between men and women, low levels of women's representation in politics, and violence against women are all combined products contributing to the low ranking of those cities.

Further the study also stated that women are three times as likely to hold a part-time job and nearly twice as likely to work for minimum wage, than men.

"I don’t want everyone to move to Quebec City, the hope is that everyone will be in an equally good place to live as a woman in Canada," McInturff said.

"The way to make sure that we have cities that are all performing well in Canada is to make sure that we’re translating the programs that are working in one place, into other places."

Following is list of the best places for women in Canada:

1. Québec City
2. Saskatoon
