Winnipeg high school football player injured in game dies

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 30 Oct, 2025 10:28 AM
  • Winnipeg high school football player injured in game dies

The Winnipeg School Division says a high school football player injured in a game earlier this month has died in hospital.

It says Darius Hartshorne, a Grade 12 student and lineman for the Sisler Spartans, succumbed to his injuries Wednesday night.

An online fundraising page says Hartshorne sustained a severe spinal injury while being tackled during a game two weeks ago and underwent emergency surgery.

The school division says support services are available at the school to support for teachers, staff, teammates and students.
