Winnipeg Man Gets $1 Million Prize After Jets Star Scores Five Goals In One Game

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 26 Nov, 2018 06:43 PM
WINNIPEG — A five-goal performance by the Winnipeg Jets' Patrik Laine on the weekend has netted a Winnipeg man a $1 million prize.

Retail grocer Sobeys automatically draws names of customers before NHL games involving teams in Western Canada, and that person can win $1 million if a single player on the team scores five goals.

Laine did just that Saturday night against St. Louis, becoming the 57th player in National Hockey League history to score five or more goals in one game.

The Sobeys twitter account posted a message that a Christopher Hayley of Winnipeg was the lucky winner.

Laine is 20 years old and the Jets say he is the only third player in NHL history to score five goals in a game before his 21st birthday.
