Winnipeg Teen Killed In Home Invasion; Alleged Attacker Shot By Police

The Canadian Press, 04 Mar, 2019 06:27 PM

WINNIPEG — Police in Winnipeg say a 17-year-old has died after he was attacked during a random home invasion.

They say the boy's parents were out and he was home with his grandmother when the break-in happened on Sunday night.

The teen called 911 and when officers arrived they found him being attacked with a weapon.

Police say officers fired at the attacker, and both he and the teen were rushed to hospital.

The youth died of his injuries and the 29-year-old suspect remains in critical condition.

Police have identified the victim as Jaime Adao and say it appears he did not know his attacker.

Police say charges are pending against the suspect.
