Winter Is Here: More Snow Coming To Metro Vancouver This Weekend

    Environment Canada has issued a new special weather statement for Metro Vancouver on Friday morning, telling people that more snow is expected on Saturday.
     
    Special weather statement in effect for:
     
    City of Vancouver - including Burnaby and New Westminster
     
    Metro Vancouver - northeast including Coquitlam and Maple Ridge
     
    Metro Vancouver - southeast including Surrey and Langley
     
    Metro Vancouver - southwest including Richmond and Delta
     
    North Shore - including West Vancouver and North Vancouver
     
     
    Arctic air is in place over the South Coast of BC and an area of low pressure set to arrive on Saturday, producing another round of snow.
     
    Similar to Thursday's snowfall, amounts will vary according to elevation, exposure to outflow winds as well as precipitation intensity.
     
    The highest snowfall amounts are expected on Vancouver Island where there is potential for accumulations to exceed 5 cm.
     
    The Lower Mainland, Sunshine Coast, Sea-to-Sky corridor and the Fraser Valley are forecast to see scattered flurries, mainly on Saturday night, with a few centimeters possible by Sunday morning.
     
    Environment Canada encourages you to be prepared for winter weather and winter driving conditions by having snow tires installed and shovels and salt at the ready.
