Environment Canada has issued a winter storm watch for the South Klondike Highway from Carcross to White Pass.
It says that is due to a frontal system moving across the area today.
The weather office says total snowfall amounts may reach up to 25 centimetres.
It warns drivers about rapidly changing conditions and says heavy and blowing snow may reduce visibility.
Mounties in Burnaby say westbound lanes of Highway 1 near the city have been shut after a multi-vehicle crash. They say just before 3 a.m., officers responded to reports of a five-car collision on the highway, just east of the Kensington Avenue off-ramp.
