'You Lose Your Whole Family In An Instant:' Calgary Mom Charged In Son's Death Tells Cop

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 02 Dec, 2016 01:06 PM
CALGARY — A Calgary woman charged in the death of her son says she intended to take him to the hospital once his health took a turn for the worse.

Tamara Lovett, who is 47, is on trial charged with failing to provide the necessaries of life and with criminal negligence causing the death of her son Ryan in 2013.

Court has heard her seven-year-old son was treated with dandelion tea and oil of oregano but died from massive organ failure.

In her video interview with police following his death, Lovett said she realized she would probably have to take him to see a medical doctor when Ryan's eyes became jaundiced.

She said she had taken Ryan to a Calgary holistic clinic a number of times in the past.

Lovett sobbed through much of the interview saying she had lost her whole family in an instant.
