  • Youth in hospital after targeted shooting in Guildford area

Surrey RCMP is advising the public of a shooting that occurred in Guildford overnight and requesting anyone with information or dash camera footage to contact police.

On March 23, 2022, at 9:30 p.m., Surrey RCMP received several calls reporting shots fired in the 15200-block of Flamingo Place. A subsequent call was received reporting a male had been shot. Police were able to locate the man, who was suffering from non-life-threatening injuries at an alternate location in Newton. The 19-year old victim was transported to hospital.

Frontline officers, Community Response Unit and Surrey Gang Enforcement Team responded to the two separate locations and confirmed that the shooting occurred in the 15200-block of Flamingo Place.  After the victim was shot, he fled the area in a vehicle.

“Surrey RCMP General Investigations Unit has assumed conduct of the investigation,” says Surrey RCMP Media relations Officer, Corporal Vanessa Munn. “Although the investigation is in the early stages, evidence indicates that this was a targeted shooting between parties known to each other.”

Anyone with information about this incident or dash camera footage is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502, or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca.
