It was a spectacular evening on Saturday, as the enthralled audience at the BC Place Stadium cheered for Vancouver Whitecaps and St.Louis City SC as they played their match against each other. The night became special due to the presence of two World Cup winners during the match.

In front of a sold out crowd of 26,000 attendees, Whitecaps hosted two time ICC world cup winner and Indian cricketing legend Yuvraj Singh along with Thomas Muller, FIFA world cup winner from Germany.

Muller led the Whitecaps to victory during Saturday's game scoring the first MLS winning goal with a 3-2 win.

After losing to Houston last week Muller was keen on sealing the victory against St.Louis by showcasing his sporting skills on the field. Saturday evening’s game was his second one with the WhiteCaps.

Soccer is certainly a sport that is much loved in North America yet a sport that is much revered in India. The sport is also peaking interest amongst the audience in the West as well.

“It’s great to be here in Vancouver,” said the cricket legend. “My role with the Super60 will be that of a mentor. This has never been done before."

Cricket Canada's Super60 tournament will take place from October 8-15, 2025 at the iconic BC Place stadium. The event will be one of its kind and historic as it’s all set to write a bold and brand new chapter for cricket in North America.

More games means Vancouver unsure of hosting costs for 2026 FIFA World Cup
The City of Vancouver says it's unable to give a complete estimate of costs associated with hosting 2026 FIFA World Cup matches because it is hosting two more games than originally anticipated. The original cost, released by the provincial government at the end of January 2023, pegged the bill for hosting five World Cup matches as $230 million, with much of that money going towards event security.
