It was a spectacular evening on Saturday, as the enthralled audience at the BC Place Stadium cheered for Vancouver Whitecaps and St.Louis City SC as they played their match against each other. The night became special due to the presence of two World Cup winners during the match.

In front of a sold out crowd of 26,000 attendees, Whitecaps hosted two time ICC world cup winner and Indian cricketing legend Yuvraj Singh along with Thomas Muller, FIFA world cup winner from Germany. 

Muller led the Whitecaps to victory during Saturday's game scoring the first MLS winning goal with a 3-2 win. 

After losing to Houston last week Muller was keen on sealing the victory against St.Louis by showcasing his sporting skills on the field. Saturday evening’s game was his second one with the WhiteCaps. 

Soccer is certainly a sport that is much loved in North America yet a sport that is much revered in India. The sport is also peaking interest amongst the audience in the West as well. 

Cricket has been gradually gaining momentum in Canada with young athletes taking interest in the sport. Yuvraj Singh took a trip to Vancouver to extend his support for Canada Super60 as a mentor. 

Darpan spoke to Yuvi, and the ace cricketer shared his excitement regarding the launch of Canada's Super 60 league.

“It’s great to be here in Vancouver,” said the cricket legend. “My role with the Super60 will be that of a mentor. This has never been done before."

Cricket Canada's Super60 tournament will take place from October 8-15, 2025 at the iconic BC Place stadium. The event will be one of its kind and historic as it’s all set to write a bold and brand new chapter for cricket in North America. 

A total of 10 teams will be playing in the Super60 league. The teams will represent cities of Brampton, Vancouver, White Rock, Toronto, Calgary, and Montreal.
