Alex Edler, Brandon Sutter Out Long-Term As Canucks Push For Playoff Spot

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 12 Feb, 2016 12:56 PM
VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Canucks will be missing two key pieces as they make a push for a playoff spot.

The Canucks announced via Twitter that defenceman Alex Edler will miss six weeks and forward Brandon Sutter is out six-to-eight weeks after both players were hurt in Vancouver's 3-1 win at Colorado on Tuesday.

Edler left the game after taking a slapshot off his foot, while Sutter had surgery for a fractured jaw after being hit in the face with a puck.

It's the second long-term injury of the season for Sutter, who missed the first 33 games of the season with a sports hernia.

The Canucks enter Friday's games two points behind Nashville for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference.

The Canucks host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.
