BC Hockey to break away from Hockey Canada as of June 1

  • BC Hockey to break away from Hockey Canada as of June 1

The B-C Hockey League says it's breaking away from Hockey Canada as of June 1st.

The league says the move will provide more options for players under the age of 18 who are looking to compete at the college level in the U-S.

The move will also allow B-C-H-L teams to recruit 16-and 17-year-olds from other provinces, something that is against Hockey Canada regulations.

The B-C-H-L, a Junior A league, has 17 teams in B-C and one in Washington.
