Blue Jays say Game 7 'ticket management issues' from Amazon outage being resolved

  • Blue Jays say Game 7 'ticket management issues' from Amazon outage being resolved

The Toronto Blue Jays say technical issues that had been hindering fans' ability to access their tickets to Monday night's Game 7 are being resolved.

The team had advised ticket holders to the pivotal matchup against the Seattle Mariners to be aware of "ticket management issues."

It had said Ticketmaster was experiencing technical difficulties related to Monday's major outage that hit Amazon Web Services, a cloud computing platform that companies use to operate websites, programs and other services.

Just after 4:30 p.m. ET, the Blue Jays said on social media that the system was returning to normal.

Fans should try to access their tickets and add them to their Apple or Google wallet, MLB Ballpark app, or Ticketmaster app. Those who were transferred tickets but did not receive an email confirmation should log in to Ticketmaster to accept the tickets.

"If you continue to experience challenges, additional Blue Jays staff will be at the gates to support ticket management," the team said.

The series finale at Rogers Centre is scheduled to start just after 8 p.m. ET.

The Blue Jays forced the decisive game in the American League Championship Series with a victory over the Mariners on Sunday, with the winner on Monday night headed to the World Series to face the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Other Canadian sports teams were also working to resolve ticketing issues related to the Amazon cloud outage Monday,

A spokesperson for the Montreal Canadiens said around 30 per cent of ticket holders for Monday's game against the Buffalo Sabres hadn't saved their tickets to their mobile wallet as of 4:30 p.m. ET.

"We're directing them to the Canadiens mobile app, where there appear to be fewer technical issues," said Chantal Machabée in an email.

She said the team would deploy more staff at the main box office and the event box office to verify the tickets of customers affected by the outage.
