Dipa Karmakar Welcomes Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Olympics Task Force

    Prime Minister Modi announced setting up a task force to prepare an action plan for the next three Olympic Games of 2020, 2024 and 2028.
     
    India’s gymnastics star Dipa Karmakar has welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of setting up a task force to prepare an action plan for the next three Olympic Games, and expressed hope that it would yield positive results and the country would get many medals in the upcoming Summer Games.
     
    “I want to thank (Narendra Modi) sir. I hope we get many medals in the coming Olympics. Results will surely be really good,” Karmakar told media.
     
    The 23-year-old, hailing from Agartala, missed the bronze medal at the recently concluded Rio Olympics by 0.150 points as American gymnast Simone Biles won her third gold medal of the prestigious quadrennial event.
     
    Prime Minister Modi announced setting up a task force to prepare an action plan for the next three Olympic Games of 2020, 2024 and 2028. 
     
    PM Modi made the announcement at the meeting of Council of Ministers on Friday, that a task force will be set up to prepare a comprehensive action plan for effective participation of Indian sportspersons in the next three Olympic Games.
     
    The task force will prepare the overall strategy for sports facilities, training, selection procedure and other related matters. 
     
    The team will comprise of members who are in-house experts as well as those from outside. Prime Minister Modi said that the task force will be set up over the next few days.
