Eden Gardens is like another mom for me: Harbhajan

Darpan News Desk IANS, 11 Mar, 2014 01:21 PM
Describing the Eden Gardens, which has seen him come up with some spendid performances, as "another mom" for him, India discard offie Harbhajan Singh Tuesday said he was looking forward to a successful Vijay Hazare stint at the hallowed turf.

Harbhajan, who struck a hat-trick and picked up 13 wickets in India's historic come-from-behind win over Australia at the Eden Gardens in 2001, also was part of the Mumbai Indians squad that won the IPL title with a victory over Chennai Superkings in the finals played at the same venue.

"Eden Gardens is like another mom to me. I have never returned empty-handed from the Eden. It is very special to me. I am confident it will again be special for me," Harbahjan told mediapersons here.

Harbhajan is leading the Punjab team in the domestic limited over tournament.

Asked whether he will miss the crowd, which come to the ground during the international matches, Harbhajan said he would rather concentrate on a constant improvement in his performance.

"Every game is an opportunity when you are out of the national side."

Punjab finished atop the north Zone league.

On the Indian Premier League, which had got the wrong headlines after match-fixing and betting allegations, Harbhajan said it was time for the senior cricketers to come forward and clean the game.
