FIFA bans use of drums, trumpets during Nigeria games

Darpan News Desk IANS, 21 Jun, 2014 10:34 AM

FIFA prohibited members of the Nigerian Football Supporters Club (NFSC) to use drums and trumpets to support their team during the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

NFSC President Rafiu Ladipo sent a letter of protest to FIFA against the decision banning these items in the stadiums, reports EFE.

The NFSC has been in the forefront of providing support and entertainment for the Nigerian team by blowing trumpets and beating drums to the admiration of several fans across the world.

The group began their activities in 1977 and its efforts have been greatly acknowledged by FIFA several times.

“This is very strange and we have to tackle it with everything at our disposal to avoid a repeat because if you separate music from football, there is nothing left for the fans,” Ladipo said.
