Mayor Ken Sim is proud to announce that FIFA26 Canada will bring the iconic FIFA World Cup™ Winner’s Trophy to Vancouver for a viewing event at the Italian Cultural Centre (“Il Centro”) on Tuesday, August 26th from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

As a follow up to a special proclamation ceremony taking place the day prior, this event will give the local community a rare opportunity to experience one of the most recognized and celebrated trophies in the world, right in the heart of East Vancouver.

“The FIFA World Cup Winner’s Trophy is one of the most recognized symbols in sports. It represents passion, unity, and the joy that soccer brings to people everywhere,” said Mayor Ken Sim. “Thanks to FIFA26 Canada and FIFA Vice President Victor Montagliani, we’re excited to welcome the trophy to Vancouver at the Italian Cultural Centre, and for giving our community a chance to be part of the magic as we count down to 2026.”

“East Vancouver was built by immigrant communities whose cultures created the rich fabric of this neighbourhood – including a deep love for football. I’m proud to have grown up here,” said Victor Montagliani, FIFA Vice President and President of Concacaf. “Seeing the FIFA World Cup Winner’s Trophy in East Van is a full-circle moment for me – and a chance for the community to begin celebrating what’s to come.”

Open to the public, this free community event invites soccer fans, families, and curious visitors of all ages to come witness the iconic symbol of global football glory up close.

“This is what’s great about being a host city for the FIFA World Cup,” said Mario Miceli, Executive Director of Il Centro. “The adults, the youth, and especially the children of Vancouver have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see this trophy revered around the world – in their own back yard, thanks to one of our own.”

The FIFA World Cup™ Winner’s Trophy’s visit is part of the lead-up celebrations for the FIFA World Cup 26™, of which Vancouver is one of the official host cities. Il Centro is honoured and humbled to be one of the selected community locations chosen for this exclusive appearance.
