  • Jasneet Nijjar, Zoe Sherar, Lauren Gale & Savannah Sutherland Power Canada to 4x400m Relay Bronze

Jasneet Nijjar continues her impressive rise on the global stage, playing a crucial role in Canada’s bronze medal finish in the women’s 4x400m relay at the World Athletics Relays 2026.

Competing alongside Zoe Sherar, Lauren Gale, and Savannah Sutherland, Nijjar ran the third leg of the race, helping the team clock a season-best time of 3:22.66 to secure a podium finish. The quartet delivered a strong, cohesive performance, with Sutherland powering through the anchor leg to overtake the Netherlands in a dramatic final stretch.

The achievement marks a significant milestone for Nijjar, who has been steadily building her profile in Canadian athletics. Having previously represented Canada at the 2024 Olympic Games and earned recognition as the 2025 BC Athletics Sprints and Hurdles Athlete of the Year, this podium finish further cements her status as one of the country’s rising sprint stars.

Beyond the medal, the performance carries added significance. The team’s strong showing, combined with their earlier heat time of 3:23.52, secured Canada automatic qualification for the 2027 World Athletics Championships in Beijing.

Speaking after the race, the team emphasized the collective effort behind the win. Sherar noted the group’s determination to compete with the best, while Sutherland credited her teammates for putting her in a position to deliver on the final leg.

For Nijjar, the bronze medal is not just a personal achievement but a testament to teamwork, resilience, and the growing strength of Canada’s women’s relay squad on the international stage.
