Messi's Retirement Will Not Impact Our Association: Tata Motors

Darpan News Desk IANS, 27 Jun, 2016 01:27 PM
Argentine superstar Lionel Messi's announcement to retire from international football will not have any impact on Tata Motors' association with its global brand ambassador, the auto major said on Monday.

In a shocking decision, Messi on Sunday announced quitting from international football following Argentina's defeat against Chile in the Copa America Centenario final.

"We strongly believe that Lionel Messi's announcement to retire from international football is not going to have any impact on our association as per our brand is concerned," company's Vice President (Sales) S.N. Burman told IANS.

The company in 2015 had signed the five-time World Footballer of the Year (Ballon d'Or) winner in a long-term association as its global brand ambassador to promote and endorse its passenger vehicles globally.

The company earlier said this was the first time ever that the passenger vehicle business undertook an overall brand association campaign with a brand ambassador.

The football star endorsed an Indian brand for the first time.
