The inaugural Canada Super 60 Cricket Tournament concluded with great fanfare this weekend at BC Place, marking a historic milestone for Canadian sport and culture.

The event united athletes, community members, and political leaders—including Premier David Eby, MLA Anne Kang, Nikki Sharma, Jagrup Brar, Amna Shah, Jessie Sunner, and Christine Boyle—who joined thousands of fans to celebrate this exciting new chapter for cricket in Canada.

Held from October 8 to 13, the Super 60 tournament is the first of its kind globally to feature both men’s and women’s competitions from its very first edition, setting a new standard for gender equity in the sport. The fast-paced, action-packed format is rapidly gaining popularity, captivating traditional cricket enthusiasts while attracting a fresh, diverse audience.

The BC New Democratic Government expressed pride in hosting this landmark event at BC Place, recognizing it not only as a sporting competition but also as a cultural celebration and a catalyst for tourism and community cohesion. The tournament positions Canada as a leader in one of the world’s fastest-growing sports markets, leveraging cricket’s global appeal to foster inclusivity and strengthen national pride.

MLAs had the opportunity to meet cricket legends and key figures behind the tournament, including Yuvraj Singh—Super 60 Ambassador and one of India’s most celebrated cricketers—Abhishek Shah, founder of Super 60, and Mike Burrow, a partner at Super 60. Together, they shared a vision of cricket as a universal language that bridges cultures and celebrates Canada’s rich multicultural identity.

The tournament concluded amid enthusiasm and optimism for the future of cricket in Canada, highlighting the sport’s unique power to unite communities and celebrate diversity.
