Vancouver Canucks Confirm Eddie Lack As Game 1 Starter Against Calgary Flames

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 15 Apr, 2015 12:42 PM
VANCOUVER — Eddie Lack will get the start in goal for the Vancouver Canucks tonight in Game 1 of their first-round series with the Calgary Flames.

The 27-year-old Swede has carried the load for the Canucks down the stretch, but with Ryan Miller back from injury there was a chance the veteran netminder could get the call.

Canucks head coach Willie Desjardins has played his cards close to the vest this week, before confirming this morning that Lack will get the nod.

"Eddie's played well in the pressure situations," said the coach. "I'd expect him to be good."

Canucks forward Brad Richardson, who has suited up for just two games since mid-January because of a nagging foot injury, also looks set to play for Vancouver after making it through practices on Monday and Tuesday without a setback.

After the 57-year-old was hired as the franchise's 18th head coach in June, he hit the road to meet with members of a veteran core that will need to rebound in a big way following a miserable 2013-'14 campaign that ended with the Canucks missing the playoffs for the first time in six seasons.
