Vancouver Canucks Recall Forward Jake Virtanen From AHL Utica Comets

    VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Canucks recalled forward Jake Virtanen from the American Hockey League's Utica Comets on Sunday.
    Virtanen has appeared in 10 games with the Canucks and two games with the Comets this season.
     
    The 20-year-old appeared in 55 games for Vancouver in his debut NHL season in 2015-16, collecting 13 points (seven goals, six assists). He ranked second on the team in hits with 128.
     
    Virtanen also appeared in two games for Utica on a conditioning stint and represented Canada at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship.
     
    The Canucks selected the Abbotsford, B.C., native in the first round, sixth overall, in the 2014 NHL draft.
