It’s that special time of year once again-when the Vancouver Canucks gear up to celebrate Diwali with a stunning new logo, and this year Canucks is launching the Diwali 2025 logo in collaboration with Darpan Magazine.

This year’s Diwali logo has been designed by Surrey-based sketch artist Suki Kaur, whose inspiration is deeply rooted in the symbolic and cultural richness of Sikh-Punjabi traditions.

In an exclusive conversation with Darpan Magazine, Suki shared the creative journey, design philosophy, and meaning behind this year’s theme: “Hope Over Despair.”

Departing from previous years’ motifs of fireworks and peacock designs, the 2025 Diwali logo takes a more meaningful and artistic turn. Suki drew inspiration from Phulkari, a traditional Punjabi embroidery art known for its vivid floral and geometric patterns. “Phulkari, which literally means ‘floral work,’ represents joy, resilience, and cultural pride,” Suki explained.

The logo features bright yellow and deep pink, symbolizing the radiance of South Asian traditions, paired with blue, representing the calm of the night sky. Together, these colors bring forth a message of unity and optimism.

“The idea was to move beyond the visual celebration and capture something deeper,” Suki shared. “Diwali, at its core, is about hope overcoming despair, light triumphing over darkness. I wanted the design to connect the South Asian community with others across Canada — a visual that celebrates our shared humanity, resilience, and the colors of hope.”

The new logo is more than a design; it’s a symbol of introspection and victory over one’s inner challenges, a creative reflection of Diwali’s timeless message of good prevailing over evil.

Suki also designed a shoulder patch that combines the peacock with the Canucks’ stick-in-rink.

Sharing the excitement about upcoming Diwali night, Michael Doyle, President, Canucks Sports & Entertainment, Business Operations, said, “We are incredibly proud to celebrate the South Asian community as we recognize the importance of Diwali and honour their vibrant culture. The South Asian community embodies generosity, unity, and a deep sense of connection. We are honored to share in the joy of this special night, celebrating the Festival of Lights at both Rogers Arena and Abbotsford Centre.”

Fans can look forward to seeing the new Diwali logo showcased during Diwali Night on November 5, 2025, at Rogers Arena, where Canucks will play Chicago Blackhawks. Tickets are available at Canucks.com

The Canucks first introduced their Diwali Night celebration in 2018, adding the now-iconic Diwali jersey in 2021, which quickly became a fan favourite- even catching the attention of Seth Rogen, who publicly requested one.

Canucks have also launched Diwali-themed merchandise, now available for purchase on Vanbase.ca
