Australia defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets in their last match of the World Twenty20 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium here Tuesday.
 
Chasing 154 runs for victory, openers Aaron Finch (71) and David Warner (48) put together a 98-run opening stand to take the game away from Bangladesh, reports bdnews24.com.
 
The Aussie openers were aggressive from the very outset scoring 52 runs in the first six overs.
 
Bangladesh got their first breakthrough when Al-Amin Hossain castled Warner. The pacer bagged his second wicket when Nasir Hossain took a brilliant diving catch to send back Finch.
 
Glenn Maxwell’s (5) brief stay at the crease came to an end with the timber being disturbed by Taskin Ahmed.
 
Aussie skipper George Bailey (11 not out) and Cameron White (18) easily took their team to 158 for three with 15 balls to spare.
 
Earlier, after electing to bat, the hosts were helped by a century stand between Shakib Al Hasan (66) and Mushfiqur Rahim (47) in reaching 153 for five in 20 overs.
 
Nathan Coulter-Nile bagged two wickets for the Aussies while Doug Bollinger, Shane Watson and Mitchell Starc chipped in with one each.
 
Bangladesh ended the tournament winless.
