Drink from this bottle, then eat it too!

Darpan News Desk IANS, 30 Mar, 2014 12:33 PM
  • Drink from this bottle, then eat it too!
What about drinking your favourite cold drink or simply plain bottled water and then eating the bottle instead of throwing it in the bin or by the roadside?

Spanish researchers have designed a blob design for water bottle that is edible.

"This blob like container called 'Ooho' is simple, cheap, durable, hygienic, biodegradable and even edible," Rodrigo Garcia Gonzalez, one of the designers, was quoted as saying.

The "Ooho" encapsulates water in a double gelatinous membrane made from brown algae and calcium chloride.

Just pierce the "Ooho" to drink and then you can gulp the bottle too.

It is even simple enough to make at home, media reports said.

There are already edible containers available in the market.

One such product "Wikipearl" contains yogurt and ice cream and is made of nuts, chocolate and seeds that can be eaten, the reports added.
