Facebook Records One Billion Logins In A Day

Darpan News Desk IANS, 28 Aug, 2015 11:09 AM
A billion users logged into social networking site Facebook on August 24 for the first time, founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has said.

"We just passed an important milestone. For the first time ever, one billion people used Facebook in a single day," he wrote on his Facebook page late Thursday.

"On Monday, one in seven people on the Earth used Facebook to connect with their friends and family."

The founder of the world's largest social network said the achievement was a step towards the company's objective to connect everyone to the internet.

"Our community stands for giving every person a voice, for promoting understanding and for including everyone in the opportunities of our modern world," Zuckerberg wrote.

He said he believed "a more open and connected world is a better world."

"It brings stronger relationships with those you love, a stronger economy with more opportunities, and a stronger society that reflects all of our values."

Facebook has a total of 1.5 billion users who connect at least once a month. The social network reached the one billion mark in October 2012.
